Omg I had a fake of this Kate Spade bag in middle school, which makes me cringe to think about. Also rocked the heart charm Tiffany bracelet proudly after my Bat Mitzvah and am so sad to report that it got lost in a lake. Still have the necklace that I have debated wearing again now that silver is having a comeback.
Thank goodness for you my girl. As always I love the insight.
My first was a cream coach bag with a gold strap. I never let it touch a dirty surface and kept it in its soft container bag immediately upon returning home every time I took it out.
Thanks, Kassandra. Your deep care for your cream coach bag is exactly the type of care I would have done to keep its color and essence in perfect condition. Do you still own it?
I just cut the Kate Spade chapter from my forthcoming fashion essay collection — but the brand will always bring back immense nostalgia for me as I, while eager to break into fashion, did a freelance project for a Kate Spade handbag designer going out on her own with an apparel line. When she ran out of money to pay me for securing her inaugural runway show sponsors, she paid me in kind. With a Kate Spade bag. But the joke was on me as the red, leather doctor-style handbag was unfinished; it featured zero branding and polished touches were absent. I held onto the bag for a decade as a reminder of the hard work and patience I employed before ultimately landing my job at Calvin Klein. In many ways, I was once like the bag itself — unpolished and incomplete — but with age and experience, I stepped into my own.

I love both parts of this story, Jessica. And yes—wear that necklace! What better time than now?

Love this! Please tell me you still own it :)
Sadly no!! Long since gone. When you’re that young you’re reckless 😂
Ain’t that the truth 😂
